There should be a slice of the web for everyone who has something to say, even those who don’t have the time, the money or the skills to build their own website. This is why we at Communikitchen decided to build Sproond, a way to give people their own private space in a shared web environment. Think of it as a digital condo.
But why and how is Sproond different from other low-cost, hosted and managed solutions? First of all, it’s powered by humans, from design to delivery. There is not a single task that is left completely up to a machine to perform, which is why everyone, even the less web-savvy, will feel perfectly at home using Sproond.
We anticipated the requirements of people with limited needs, and produced a solution that is simple and modular—that is you are never stuck with features you don’t care about.
Because of this idea we had of offering people their very own slice of the web, we wanted a name that would suit this uniquely. Frankly, we couldn’t find it: we needed to make one up. It will come as no surprise that we like food and cooking, and are fond of the local traditions of Romagna, the region of Italy where Communikitchen has its headquarters.

One of the most common tools in our traditional kitchenware is the pastry wheel, or pasta cutter, locally called sprunèla—which literally means little spur, because of the way it looks. So we decided to take the first syllable and make it web-friendly, and that’s how Sproond was born.
Sproond cuts tasty treats out of the web.
